The phrase “Eilu devarim she’ein lahem shiur” (Hebrew: “אֵלּוּ דְבָרִים שֶׁאֵין לָהֶם שִׁעוּר”) translates to “these are the things that have no measure”. It originates from the Talmud, and is a key concept in Jewish ethics and practice, emphasizing the importance of certain actions. These actions, known as “mitzvot” (commandments), are considered to have a limitless reward and impact – including:  to honor father and mother, to perform acts of love and kindness, to welcome the stranger, and to visit the sick etc.  

At the base of the piece, we see the foundation for all these mitzvot, in a wave of colorful caligraphy which reads: “and the study of Torah is equal to them all”.
