Signed by the artist, Mordechai Rosenstein z”l.
In this exquisite piece, Mordechai imagines the powerful exchange between Abraham and God described in the Torah (Genesis 18:20), where Abraham pleads with God to save the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah from destruction because they are home to righteous people, including Abraham’s nephew Lot and his family. On the top left of the painting we see “Avraham” (Hebrew for Abraham), with a cacophany of gorgeous colors below, engaging intensly with the right side composed with shades of gold, and crowned with a “Yud”, the 10th letter of the Hebrew alphabet signifying God.
A breathtaking work of art; a truly inspiring gift of Judaica.
